"Bye Bye Binki Party"

We finally had Lexi's "bye bye Binki Party" She was so cute about it. We had all her cousins come over and we tied her binkis to baloons and told her that they needed to go to the new babies since she was a big girl now. I told her to give her binkis one last little taste and then she let them go. It was so cute she kept yelling "Grandma I am a big girl." We will see how these next few weeks go without the binki. Being a mom is the greatest thing in the whole wide world!!! I can't believe that this is my job, it is a dream come true.

Just a little speed bump on the road to success

For those who don't know yet Derek had knee surgery a few weeks back. Derek was out training in Illinois with Matt Hughes and his team at the beginning of the month and while he was there he tore the meniscus in his left knee. I felt so bad for him because he was supposed to stay for a week and the trip got cut short because of his injury. He called me on Tuesday night and told me what had happened and said that he would be flying home the next morning first thing. So he hopped on a plane Wednesday morning and we got him strait in to see Dr. Kimball. Dr Kimball did the surgery the following morning thanks to Dereks mom and all her conections. Going into the surgery we were not sure how serious the surgery was and Dr. Kimall told us that most of the time these were just "white zone" tears and he would be walking out of the surgery and training within about a week. Instead we found out that it was a "red zone tear." Which has a much longer recovery. So Derek will be on crutches for 4 weeks and then have a few months of physical therapy. So he has been a little down in the dumps. But he is excited to get back training as soon as possible and his next fight is scheduled in September.

My coach at UVSC Sam Atoa

My old coach Sam Atoa stopped by for a few minutes to say hi to everyone. It was so great to see him, I absolutely loved playing for him at UVSC. What great memories

catching up with old Volleyball friends

Friday night I went out to dinner with some of the girls I played volleyball with at UVSC in 2000. It was such a fun time. Lisa I had not seen in 7 years, which blows my mind. She was here from Arizona for our friend LIz's wedding. But we has such a great time reflecting on old fun memories and catching up on what we have been doing since the volleyball days. Thanks so much girls for all the laughs and giggles and great memories. We need to get together more often. Look at the punks in the background who joined our picture. HAHA.
